The XBR KDL-52XBR4 is a 1080p television with a full 1920 x 1080 resolution, the highest resolution available for the sharpest, clearest picture. The KDL-52XBR uses the most recent HDMI 1.3 interface, which houses both audio and video signals in one connector and has the bandwidth to support the data needed for the high resolution. Sony's Bravia Engine Pro Full Digital Video Processor upconverts all video signals to 1080p so you can watch all your old DVDs on this glorious display.
Sony complements the high resolution with the latest technology in color reproduction. The KDL-52XBR is a 10-bit display with 10-bit processing. Most panels are only 8-bit. The added bit depth here means a larger color palette for more faithful color reproduction and smoother transitions from one color to the next. Additionally, the display also supports the new x.v.Color standard, which dramatically increases the available color space. The end result is a picture that is so detailed, colorful, and vibrant, you'd have a hard time distinguishing it from real life.
The KDL-52XBR4 features Sony's Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts for and applies the proper processing for optimal motion reproduction depending on the video input. This includes support for 24 frames per second (24p) video, which displays video content at the 24-frames-per-second rate at which it was originally filmed or recorded. With 24p, you get the most faithful possible reproduction of the original.
A Wide Variety of Inputs
This Sony television's wide variety of inputs ensures compatibility with your other home theater components. There are three HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, HD DVD, and other technologies requiring the high bandwidth, and two component video inputs, three composite video inputs, one S-Video input, one PC Audio and Video input, and five analog audio inputs. Even with a collection of legacy components, you shouldn't have a problem connecting to the KDL-52XBR4.
Stunning Looks
The KDL-52XBR4 not only displays stunning video but is itself a head-turner. It features Sony's unique floating glass frame along with a black bezel that can be interchanged with optional color bezels to match the display to your decor.
Outstanding Ergonomics and Simplicity of Control
Sony's Xross Media Bar interface is an award-winning, intuitive on-screen display that makes setup a breeze, with menus and controls logically laid out for quick access. The KDL-52XBR4 also features Theatre Sync technology, based on the HDMI-CEC standard, which means you can easily connect to and control compatible devices. For example, when the KDL-52XBR4 is connected to a compatible DVD player, you can turn on both the DVD player and the television and start playing a DVD with a single push of a button on the remote. When you're done, another push of a button powers everything down. With Theatre Sync, you can spend time enjoying the movie rather than waste time setting everything up.
More Than Just a Television
Because more and more people expect to view photos on their HDTVs, Sony developed a Photo TV HD mode that optimally sets the sharpness, gradation, and color to make digital photos look like printed photography.
The KDL-52XBR4 is backed by a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor.
| Full HD QualityHDTV provides up to six times the visual detail of the Standard Definition television. You need an HDTV set, HD sound and a source of HD content to make sure you're really getting HD. |

Sony Bravia HD TV
This is an incredible HD TV. Sony really produced a winner.
It is a beautiful piece of furniture with the glass surround and what a beautiful picture it produces, ( both HD as well as standard format)
Our neighbor viewed it and ordered one exactly like ours.
Our living room where this is placed is bright with outside light during daylight hours and the mat finish on Sony's screen obscures this and plays extremely well.
Thanks SONY

Defective display panel.
This TV works fine for the first 4 months, then a vertical dead line appeared and propagated every day.
Called the Repair center and realized this is a typical problem for this TV. Now it is Olympic time and I have no TV to watch!
Simply DO NOT buy this TV. If you really want to give it a shot, buy it with extended warranty.
I am lucky since this TV broke down while still covered under warranty. If not, be prepared for another 00+ for the display panel replacement.
BTW, as mentioned by someone before, SONY custom service is a disaster!

Garbage
7/22/08:
Just going into week 7 of my new TV,the picture/display was gone. Sony repairman says he has to order a new FB1 mainboard. TV was always connected to a good APC line conditioner/ surge protector, so I doubt any external forces caused the failure. Retailer no help after 30 days, have to go through manufacturer warranty(cringe). 5 years ago, Sony demanded 3 attempts to fix my new home theatre receiver. That took 8 months and never was fixed. Only then did they ship a new unit. But that was 8 months without a unit! With 3K into this TV, I better not go through that again, but willing to bet I do.
8/6/08:
Well guess what. Sony replaces FB1 board today and presto, no picture! Now they will try 2 other parts that will take another 2 weeks to install with no guarantees they will fix problem. I guess no diagnosing here, just throw parts at it till something magically works. This TV sucks. And so does Sony. Here we go again. Needless to say, I don't do Sony again in my lifetime. And I so wanted to watch the Olympic games on this set! No going to happen.
Buy something else!

High Qualiy product from Sony, it's been a while since..
Love this TV. Excellent HDTV video quality. Very good Standard picture (not many TVs of this size can do that). Initial TV configuration is not very straight forward, but once figured - picture is amazing. I wish all Sony products to be like that.

WOW
The Sharp Aquos LC32D64U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is an amazing TV. I could not be happier. The picture on the HD channels is so realistic that I get motion sickness when watching cycling! I can't wait for the winter Olympics! The picture on the regular channels is great. What can I say about the sound? I am hearing sounds that I have never heard from my TV before. When I am in another room (and the TV is on), I have to go into the living room to see what I'm hearing. Buy this TV you will not be sorry.
I was shocked at how fast Electronic Express got this TV to my house. I placed my Amazon order on Sunday 09/28/08 and I had the TV by Wednesday 10/01/08. Thank you Amazon and Electronic Express!

A Crisp Compact LCD TV
This is my second Sharp Aquos LCD TV. The first one was a 30" that required a set top box to drive it. It lasted five years before suddenly failing. This unit, compared to it, has a much sharper picture and the controls are very easy to use. It is super easy to change the aspect ratio and the picture is very crisp and clear with good color balance. I use Dish Net with S-video signal input into the unit. It is also connected to a Sony tuner, Toshiba DVD player/recorder and VHS Tape player To this point I am very happy with the unit but if one fails after warantee period be prepared to pay big bucks for repair. In my case it was cheaper to buy a new set rather than repair my old set top.

Outstanding HDTV
The sharp aquos (32")was the perfect size for the room I bought it for. The setup was easy, the picture is great (even with the sun shinning on it).
I would higly recommend this product to anyone for a small room that wants a quality product at a reasonable price.

Picture is fine, but Lag time between channels is painful
Just received my lc32d64u this week!
I cannot tell if the unit is supposed to do this, or its faulty, but when I switch channels, there is a lag, I see a black screen then the new channel with the info in the top right corner.
That is frustrating.
Does anyone else have this issue??

Fantastic Viewing
I purchased this TV when it first became available. I was prepared to purchase the earlier version but I knew that the this model, if it became available, would work better for me. I live and travel full-time in a fifth wheel trailer. My available space is restrictive. I knew that the reduction in depth and bezel dimensions would make installation much easier. I intitially set it up using the base provided. The set worked beautifully as soon as I plugged it in and hooked up my HD satellite service. The HD version of the weather channel is so clear that you think your viewing it live in the studio. Reception of HD over the air channels is amazing using the standard antenna that came with my camper. I can make a comparison with my daughter's 42 inch Panasonic Plasma. The Aquos is superior at comparable distances. I echo the other reviews that talk about the crispness of the picture. I am glad is waited for this latest technology by Sharp. Before starting my summer travels I make custom mounting using a standard arm. I enlarged the wall TV opening to fit flush to the TV with 1/4 inch foam rubber on all sides to cushion road travel. I have traveled 3000 miles since installation.

be very careful
I loved the TV itself. But It was delivered with missing parts that i had to attempt to get from the manufactuer. The seller was no help. I will not purchase electronics online again impossibe to tell if your getting new, used, refurbished or returned items and once you get it with missing parts you suffer as the buyer.

Very pleased
Shipping by TAF was prompt and within promised window, with evening delivery. Both the box and TV have hand grips. Pedestal assembly easy. TV weighs less than a CRT half its screen size! Actually fits a built-in space that seemed suitable for nothing bigger than a 37", until I carefully considered all the measurements.
Instructions in clear English (or you can learn equivalent Spanish and French). Assembled in Mexico, rather than China. Remote control is very well balanced. Buttons "fall right to hand," but are not designed for fat fingers. Frame has the shiny black finish of a grand piano.
The picture is beautiful compared to a standard analog tube, even before HD service. Text and scrollers are really sharp. No screen-lag in action scenes. Regular DVDs played on an upconverting player are smashing at 720p, and could hardly improve on a 1080i or 1080p TV (Blu-Ray discs would be a different matter). Anti-glare protection is somewhat effective. Three different wide-screen modes for use when viewing regular 4:3 shows (two of them make everyone look like big, ah, linemen).

Solid TV
I was given this TV as a gift - man, what a gift. It's a beautiful specimen. Not too huge, just a sleek, standard HDTV. I am not really blown away by the incredible picture - although it's crisp and much clearer than normal tv. It's great, don't get me wrong. But i'm not sure it's really improved my overall television viewing experience. But i digress - it's a great tv, picture is mighty fine, but i did have a really bad experience with the delivery. The folks that J&R hired to deliver the tv - Urban Express - did a crap job. I was supposed to get the white glove service - where they delivery the tv and also hook up to your cable and install the tv, etc - but instead, got something quite different. The 2 guys come in, they take the tv out of the cardboard box, attach the base, and place the tv on my tv stand. As they start to leave, i ask them if they can help me hook up/connect the TV and make sure the HD portion works to maximum effectiveness (because this was the service we paid extra for - delivery and white glove service). Well, long story short, they said sorry, can't help you, that will be an extra 8 or something. I quizically say ok, well thanks but no thanks, and they take off. So - idiot that i am - i spend 25 minutes trying to set up the damn tv, with no luck, and then lo and behold the guys come back to apologize and say they were really responsible for setting up and connecting the tv. They come back inside, futz around for 10 minutes, and proclaim "sorry - we don't know how to set this up." They say they have to get a "specialist" to help. 1 hour later, they're back with the new guy, who takes 30 seconds to get everything up and running. So the delivery guys really sucked in my opinion. Ha - all good now!

Horrible Experience
I bought this TV from adorama through amazon. After connecting to power outlet, I watched this TV only for 10 minutes. After that, it turned off automatically. I tried connecting to different power outlets and it doesn't work. Once, it turns off, the remote also doesn't work. I requested for an exchange/return to adorama and they said they cannot take it back because of their return policies. So, I called panasonic customer care, and since they couldn't help me in fixing through phone, they sent their authorized dealers (Advanced Electronic)to pick up the TV to fix it.
They came and took the TV by Oct. 20, and still now they have not fixed it. I tried calling them several times and they are not picking up the phone, and I called panasonic customer care center to get the status. Even they couldn't help me for last two weeks. It's been around a month, I bought this TV and not even watched it for 10 minutes. I will not suggest this TV to anyone. It's horrible experience.

First HDTV?
If you're purchasing (or thinking about purchasing) this TV, chances are, this is your first venture into the wonderful world of HDTV's. This was the case with me. I'll keep it short. I got this tv for around 765, shipping included. This TV was SO worth it. I haven't regretted the purchase for 1 moment. The black levels are deep, the colors are vibrant, and there are no false contours that I have been able to perceive. All things I was worried about before the purchase. I could not tell you the difference between a 1080 and 720 on the 42" screen. The picture is impeccable. If you have the money and are wondering if the purchase is worth it, just know that this TV completely satisfied my needs. And if you're new to the HDTV world, it will satisfy yours, too. (Just do it... )
